Water Baptism

Learn about what we believe, how we baptize and sign up for the next baptism.

Baptism is an outward sign of our commitment to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

When you are baptized, (submerged or laid down under water and then brought back up again), it symbolizes being buried to your old self, and rising up to walk in your new life in Christ.

Please read the following passages from the Bible (New Living Translation):

Romans 6:4 “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

Mark 16:15-16 “And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.”

Matthew 28:18-20 “Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

What is Baptism like at Bible Center?

What should I wear?

We will provide you with a “Straight Outta the Water @ BC” t-shirt. You should wear black, loose-fitting bottoms and a pair of socks. If you wish to cover your head/hair, feel free to wear a shower cap or swimming cap. Please bring a complete change of clothes, including undergarments for after you are baptized.

What will happen?

The Deacons will assist you to the baptism pool. You will step into the pool, where the Pastor/designee will stand you in the right spot to be submerged under water.

You don’t have to know how to swim!

After verbally confirming your profession of faith, Pastor/designee will cover your mouth and nose with a towel, and lay you safely under water, baptizing you in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit, then raise you up safely.  At that point you will be met by a Deacon, with towels, to escort you safely out of the pool and to the restrooms, where you can change into your dry clothes. After the service, you will receive your official baptism certificate.

Can I invite my friends and family?

Absolutely! Baptism is a powerful experience. Having friends and family there to celebrate with you is a blessing.
