Job Title: Barista & Deli Assistant

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: From $13.00 per hour plus tips

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week

Position Summary:

Everyday Cafe is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Barista and Deli Assistants. This role entails various responsibilities including cafe operations, deli preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting environment. The ideal candidates will be passionate about serving others, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic, community-oriented setting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform opening and closing duties according to established procedures.

- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages with precision and attention to quality.

- Assist in deli preparation tasks such as sandwich making, salad assembly, and pastry display.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, including wiping down surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and restocking supplies.

- Handle cash transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems.

- Monitor inventory levels and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.

- Provide friendly and attentive customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns promptly.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operation and seamless service.

- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

 

Qualifications:

- Prior experience in a cafe, restaurant, or customer service role preferred.

- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality products and service.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

- Food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).


Job Title:       CDL Bus Driver

Classification  Non-manager, part-time

Reports To:    Director Business & Ministry Operations

Salary:            $18-$20/hr.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

·        CPR and First Aid certification

·        CDL driver's license with Passenger Endorsement

·        Critical thinker

·        Strong reflexes

·        Patient with others

·        Solves problems effectively

·        Works well with others

·        Consistently punctual

·        High School Diploma (or equivalent)

·        Two to five years of a save driving record

·        Strong eyesight

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Ensure the safety of passengers during scheduled trips

·        Aid passengers in safely boarding and deboarding the vehicles

·        Drive along established routes to local destinations

·        Transport passengers who are primarily school age children

·        Daily cleaning of the interior of bus including seats, floors, and windows

·        Provide information on schedules and stops

·        Report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents immediately

 


Physical Environment: Job will require sitting, bending and may involve lifting up to 25 pounds.

Job Title:  Farm Assistant

Classification: Non-Manager, Part-Time

Reports To: Farm Manager

Salary Range: $14 to $19 per hour


Key Qualifications:

·        Cultural competence in working with people from diverse backgrounds

·        Strong organization with the ability to meet established deadlines

·        Minimum of 1- 2 seasons experience and proficiency (at least 900 hours) in sustainable agriculture, vegetable gardening, aquaponics, horticulture, food systems, ecology, sustainability, urban farming and garden education; or, a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education. 

·        Familiarity with basic carpentry and landscaping,

including proper use of hand and power tools

·        Willing and able to work shifts up to 8 hours in all weather conditions

·        Planting, harvesting, washing, packaging, and cleaning fresh produce

·        Weeding, pruning, plant and soil maintenance and seeding

·        Must obtain clearances to include PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI Fingerprint Results, National Sex Offender Registry Certification and Mandated Reporter Training Certification

·        Interest in community-based and digital engagement and outreach, like social media management, marketing, communications, event planning, youth and community programming, public speaking, and volunteer engagement

·        Knowledge of OSHA regulations

·        Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management strategies



Key Responsibilities

·        Maintain outdoor gardens, including Ministry House site, Playground, Fleury Way Farm, and high tunnels

·        Keep accurate records of harvested produce

·        Collaborate with the Farm Manager to plan production goals and set crop rotations

·        Organize, assemble, and care for farm equipment

·        Establish and comply with project timelines

·        Assist with other duties as assigned

·        Assist with farm production tasks and maintenance of the farm, bioshelter, aquaponics and hydroponics systems, gardens, edible park, orchard, and surrounding outdoor learning spaces

·        Support the implementation of the farm’s Veggie Subscription program and Homewood Farmer’s Market

·        Support tours, education workshops and outreach events, as needed.

·        Attend and participate in relevant trainings and meetings

·        Be a collaborative and contributing member of the Bible Center team



Core Hours:

The schedule will be assigned by the Farm Manager and will vary dependent on programs being offered. Some Saturdays may be required. Work is mainly situated on site at the Farm, located at 7238 Fleury Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.



Physical Environment: Job will require walking, standing, bending and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, at times.

Job Title: Maintenance & Repair Coordinator

Classification: Non-exempt, Part-Time with additional “on-call” hours, as needed

Reports To: Director of Finance and Operations

Salary: $18/hr

 

 

Vision:

 

Bible Center Church (BCC) and its Community and Economic Development division, The Oasis Project (TOP), seeks a part-time Maintenance & Repair Specialist for the various properties associated with the Bible Center Campus in Homewood.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC systems, appliance installation and industrial hazardous waste removal
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will be responsive and flexible

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical repairs in community areas
  • Ensure mechanical equipment is in working order and fixed as needed
  • Complete general building maintenance as needed for inspections
  • Install and replace flooring, stairs and piping as needed
  • Install or mount equipment as needed throughout our properties
  • Repair and paint doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs, and other parts of our buildings
  • Maintain and repair air conditioning and heating systems as required
  • Industrial cleaning of office spaces, bathrooms, floors, kitchens, and other areas as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
