Ministry Need

Bible Center Campus Clean Up: If you’re able, please join us for a clean-up day on Friday, October 18th from 10 - 2 p.m. We will have Pitt students joining us and will focus on garden and outdoor work, and clearing construction debris from the lower level in preparation for the next phase of work.

Pastoral Anniversary

Pastor John's 15th pastoral anniversary is next month on Sunday, November 17th. One of the ways we plan to show Pastor John our love and appreciation is to present him with a slide show with pictures of him highlighting the work that has been done over the past 15 years and we need your help! Please send any photos you have of Pastor John from way back when up through current day to media@bcpgh.org by Monday, November 11th. Thank you!

Installation Service

We are blessed that God has called leaders after His own heart to serve at Bible Center. Please join us for a Leadership Installation Service on Sunday, October 27th at 4pm at the WARM Center. A light reception will follow. 

Pop Up Mall

Save the date for Bible Center’s third annual Pop Up Mall - Saturday, December 7 from 9 am until 4 pm. This is an amazing opportunity to explore your inner entrepreneur and sell baked goods, clothing, jewelry, handmade items, services, etc. The Pop Up Mall is also a great place to pick up some thoughtful gifts for loved ones (or treat yourself)! 

Sign up to be a vendor at bcpgh.info/popup, the vendor fee of $20 is due via cash check or online payment by November 22, 2019. 

Celebrations! 

  • The Bible Center Family is invited to the 50th Birthday celebration for Darrin Ward! When: Saturday, October 19, 2-5pm Where: Westinghouse Lodge, Forest Hills, PA. For questions or to RSVP contact Trashawnda Ward at 412-720-2034.


  • Margaret and Tyrone Self invite you to join them for a birthday celebration for Janie Miller on Saturday, October 26th at 3 p.m. at Seneca Place, 5360 Salsburg Rd., Verona, PA. 15147. Please RSVP to Margaret at 412-760-1661.

Christmas Program Practice

The first practice for our 2019 Christmas program will be Thursday, October 24, at 7pm. Anyone interested in participating, please plan to attend. See Trashawnda Ward or Alberta Grate for more information.

Children and Youth Ministry

Fall Festival: Families and children of all ages are invited to join us for free food, games, face painting, and activities! Saturday, October 26th from 11am - 3pm at the WARM Center (717 N. Homewood Ave). Please turn in donations of candy and magazines for the vision boards by Sunday October 20th. If you plan to make or purchase cakes or cupcakes for the cake walk please sign up at the back table. All cakes can be brought in the day of or the day before the event on the 26th. If you’re interested in helping, please plan to stay for a brief planning meeting after service today. 

Oasis Farm & Fishery Harvest Fest

Our very own Oasis Farm & Fishery is having a harvest festival to commemorate the growing season on Thursday October 24th from 5-7pm. Families are invited to come enjoy free food, STEAM activities, cooking demos, pumpkin decorating, and more!

We want to make sure you’re receiving the texts that are most relevant to you and your current season of life. Please keep in mind you can change your preferences when necessary. Kudos!

  • Carly Nicole Phillips, daughter of Brandon and Jill Phillips, was born last week. She is 7lbs, 4oz, and 20 inches long. Jill and Carly are both doing well! We will deliver love offerings of diapers and wipes to the family this afternoon.

  • Congratulations to Lauren Wallace for being named to the Pittsburgh 40 Under 40 List by Pittsburgh Magazine and PUMP (Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project)!


Employment Opportunities

  • Bible Center is looking for a part-time Children and Youth Administrator. Responsibilities include curriculum selection and distribution, scheduling ministers for Children's Church, BC Kids, First Fridays (youth group), home visits and Sunday van drivers for children. This person is also responsible for leading the planning for Vacation Bible School. There is a position description on bcpgh.infoTraining will be provided. Please see Steve Davis or email sdavis@bcpgh.org for more information.

  • Homewood Children’s Village is seeking individuals interested in a 10 month AmeriCorps service placement in Homewood with a focus on increasing literacy and building student connection starting October 20. Apply online at http://bit.ly/HCVService


Other Opportunities

  • Operation Better Block’s fall clean-up is Saturday, October 19th from 9am – 12pm, volunteers will meet at the Homewood Brushton YMCA basketball court and receive tools, gloves, and lunch.


  • Free Medicare open enrollment event- One-hour consultations are available by appointment only. To make an appointment please contact the Allegheny County APPRISE office at 412-661-1438 or email apprise@wfspa.org. Please be sure to bring your Medicare A/B card, current Medicare or employer coverage plan info, and a list of current medications with dosage and frequency.
